Lanvin Cruise 2010

Alber Elbaz has done it again. I'm drooling over this madcap collection. Simply delightful.

And my personal favorite, the silver sequin t-shirt & track pants. I'm ready for any vacation where I can wear this!

Happy Weekend!

LA has June Gloom. Seattle has June-uary. I am not sure exactly what to call this weather we have been having here in the big apple other then atrocious. Rain, rain, go away!

This Jimmy Choo/Hunter Wellington collaboration just might be enough for to make it through this rainy season......... Here's hoping for sunshine and no more torrential downpours.

Trendsetter - Gladiator Sandals

I was in a rush to get ready for work this morning, and in the process came up with an outfit I was surprisingly pleased with. I don't have a photo, so you will just have to take my word for it :) Said outfit included a vintage white dress, belt, grandpa cardigan and a new pair of gladiator sandals. I know, I know what you are thinking. This trend has been here for awhile, but it is still on point. I hope it is here to stay, but time will only tell....

I will admit, I have more than one pair. You could say I am 'invested' in this trend:) Either flat or high heeled, the gladiator trend makes a seriously bold statement. Worn with a flowy maxi dress they toughen up an otherwise girly look. They add a bit more edge to the clean lines of a pant and blazer combo. The flat variety really are a dream for those of us slightly averse to the rubber flip flop trend taking over the world. Haviana's are great, but gladiators are even better.

Even this vintage Who What Wear Daily post discusses the gladiator shoe, and it is ancient! Well, 2007 ancient. There is some serious longevity to this look.

A pair from Balenciaga circa Feb '09

Mary Kate doesn't mess around.

What I want to know is this: what did we do before the gladiator??? For me it was jellies and salt water sandals........

Splurge vs Save

I have a new found love for watches. I used to think Cher from Clueless put it perfectly when she said "a watch doesn't really go with this outfit, daddy" when she was late for curfew and still in the valley. But, after inheriting my grandfathers awesomely cool vintage Rolex, I was a convert. Telling time actually can be cool. And stylish. And an excuse to leave my cell phone at home..... My current watch is gold and I'm looking for something a little different..... White ceramic to be exact!

I love this Michael Kors Chronograph Resin Watch, and at $225 it is a reasonable expenditure.

I love, love, love this Chanel J12 Diamond but at $9,950 it's a bit more of an investment.

This one is easy - I am on a recession budget afterall! I'd rather put ten grand towards a home, a car, an extravagant vacation. Someday.....

Label Lust - Wildfox Couture

It might be because I'm spending my summer in a concrete jungle, but lately I have been really fixated on California girl style. So-Cal to be exact. Wildfox Couture embodies this persona with their edgy vintage inspired looks. Just take a gander at some of the images from their upcoming lookbook, as well as seasons past.

Oh how I heart them! And their upcoming Fall '09 campaign is Killer Vampires in Beverly Hills. Totally. Awesome.

Some of the things I will have to snap up from the current collection:

I love this! Something about the peachy pink color and letting everyone know that extinction really is forever.

I will have to rock this in the urban jungle aka NYC this summer to let everyone know where I would rather be.....

Look of the Week - MTV Movie Awards Edition

I have to admit I'm a little (okay, a lot) disappointed with the fashion at this years movie awards. This is not the Oscars, people! Where were all the young, fun ensembles? Since there is no clear winner - I'm going straight to the losers circle.

{images via the cut}

It's a tie between these two. First of all, I may be judging more harshly since I do not like either or these leading ladies, but fashion is at the forefront here. Miley - are you going to a business meeting later? Boring dress, boring color, boring shoes. Boring. Kristen - are you just so over it you are wearing Converse with your pseudo-spiderman costume on the red carpet at 18? PS, please stop playing with your hair!

Rant over:)

-The iconic Marilyn Monroe would have been 83 this week. To celebrate her birthday Life magazine gives us some never before seen photos. {Life}

-The start of summer means more than just rising temps and exposed skin. It means the MTV Movie Awards! Check out who was hot and who was even hotter here. {People StyleWatch}

-Yet another clothing collaboration for Walmart. Miley Cyrus & Max Azria are going to collaborate on collection. Just when we thought we had seen the last of Hannah Montana.{People}

-Want to look like Gisele? It's as easy as 1,2,3. Oh, and having superb DNA. {Style}

-A much better collaboration that the pairing at Walmart (see above) is the venture between Target and Daily Candy. Target is entering the world of online media with its Red Hot Shop, which will feature products selected by Daily Candy editors. {WSJ}

-Beware of the fake red sole. Apparently there are some sites selling faux Louboutins for a mere $160. Any gal out there should know those kind of prices are never going to be a reality. {The Cut}

All That Glitters

It's time to join the rest of the world on the 3G network..... I have an iPhone, but nowadays, who doesn't?

What I didn't mention is that my iPhone is 'vintage'. The original. And as much fun as it will be to tell my kids that I was part of the iPhone revolution - I'm ready for an upgrade. Not really because of what it can do for me, but for this gorgeous case I can use to accessorize. Everything is better in gold!

Splurge vs Save

{Forver 21 Chance Buckle Wedge, $21}

OR

{Twelfth St by Cynthia Vincent Luella Wedge, $405}
It really comes as no surprise that Forever 21 has made a shoe eerily similar to that of Cynthia Vincent. I mean, there is that Trovata lawsuit, remember? Personally, I always feel that cheaper shoes are less comfortable, and I am all about comfort, but that may just be my mind playing tricks on me. What do you think? Splurge? Or Save??

Get Your Bronze On....

It seems like I am on the never ending quest to find the perfect bronzer. It is kind of like Goldilocks, some are too orange, others are too shimmery, when I want one that is juuuuuust right. Some I go back to by default, listless and tired of the costly pursuit of the perfect bronze.

While the search for perfection continues, here are some of the ones I have come to love over the years:

{NARS Bronzing Powder, $30}

{Benefit Hoola, $28}

{Guerlain Terracotta Sun, $65}

{Lancome Tropiques Minerale Bronzer, $38.50}

Wanderlust - Iguazu Falls

Writing about all the places in the world I would go if it were financially feasible helps me live vicariously through the post. And should I hold the golden ticket someday (I'll admit I've been known to purchase a megamillions ticket or 5) I will have a long list of trips mapped out.

Todays spotlight is the glorious, gorgeous, breathtaking Iguazu Falls. One of my top 3 places to go - and I have quite a long list.... Right on the border of Brazil & Argentina, the falls splits into the upper and lower Iguazu River. Legend has it that a god planned to marry a beautiful aborigine named Naipí, who fled the arranged marriage with her mortal lover Tarobá in a canoe. The god sliced the river in a rage, creating the waterfalls and condemning the lovers to an eternal fall.

Okay, that was a fun little story, but back to reality. What a good reason to travel to South America, and explore Argentina & Brazil. I can't think of reason why not to go.
