Winter Kate

By Nicole Richie. Soooooooo amazing. I have ranted about celebrity designers before, but this one knows what she is doing. The Opy Jacket {that gorgeous green silk number below} needs to become part of my wardrobe. Immediately.

This is just a glimpse. Check out the rest of the collection at Singer 22.

Calvin Klein Collection

Would really rather be there than anywhere (well, almost anywhere.)

Hello, Armadillo.

Would you wear these bad boys?? Crazy cool {10 inch} Alexander McQueen.

Kelis attempted. I embrace a lot of fashion forward thinking, but this is a little hard to swallow.

Happy wacky Friday.

Rachel Zoe 101

Here are her 20 Wardrobe Essentials. Yes, I have been searching high and low for a nude pump, and yes, you do need to have two of the same pair of jeans, one hemmed for flats and the other for heels. She is so smart. Love her. I hope there will be a 3rd season of her show. Puh-lease, Bravo?

White Now

A) It is Labor Day already, B) It is September 3rd, C) It is Labor Day already. I know I have blogged about what to wear with Fall fast approaching, but somehow I thought I had some time on my hands before the 3 day weekend hit me in the face.

I have mentioned here that white (imho) is not only okay post labor day, but wearing of the non color should be encouraged. Who made that rule anyway? We all know rules were made to be broken.....

Some fabulous white to wear well after the leaves change and the temperature drops.

Hardcore H & M

Your favorite mega-store Hennes & Mauritz is bringing the S & M to their Divided line come Fall 2009. Sure some pieces look more like a bad Halloween costume than Couture, but some are pretty fabulous.

Check out these awesome pieces that look more Balmain and Alex Wang than discount duds. In the words of Christian Siriano: fierce.

PS - Try not to overdo this look by pairing it with something a little more demure.... A plain white button down is a great place to start. When it comes to studs and leather, less is more people. Less is more.

Groupe Love

As opposed to groupie love, but there really is no difference here. I am a Gilt Groupe groupie. Seriously, I am smitten. I literally plan my lunch around the noon openings and import the sale dates to my outlook calendar. Check out my latest score - a Rebecca Minkoff Clutch bag. I had been drooling over several of the colors at Bloomies and I was lucky enough to snag this one at last weeks Gilt sale (well, this bag in a gorgeous buttery tan color, but you get the idea.)

Trendsetter - Gladiator Sandals

I was in a rush to get ready for work this morning, and in the process came up with an outfit I was surprisingly pleased with. I don't have a photo, so you will just have to take my word for it :) Said outfit included a vintage white dress, belt, grandpa cardigan and a new pair of gladiator sandals. I know, I know what you are thinking. This trend has been here for awhile, but it is still on point. I hope it is here to stay, but time will only tell....

I will admit, I have more than one pair. You could say I am 'invested' in this trend:) Either flat or high heeled, the gladiator trend makes a seriously bold statement. Worn with a flowy maxi dress they toughen up an otherwise girly look. They add a bit more edge to the clean lines of a pant and blazer combo. The flat variety really are a dream for those of us slightly averse to the rubber flip flop trend taking over the world. Haviana's are great, but gladiators are even better.

Even this vintage Who What Wear Daily post discusses the gladiator shoe, and it is ancient! Well, 2007 ancient. There is some serious longevity to this look.

A pair from Balenciaga circa Feb '09

Mary Kate doesn't mess around.

What I want to know is this: what did we do before the gladiator??? For me it was jellies and salt water sandals........

Studio 54

As we all learned, history repeats itself. The same goes for certain fashion trends. Some we embrace, others we shudder away from. Much to my delight, we have seen the return of the 70's....

I have become slightly obsessed with the Studio 54 era and basically the 1970's in general. It may have something to do with my love for all things gold and sequins? I love the looks of Rachel Zoe and Nicole Richie who embody the era oh so well. It was a time when Halston was king, his fluid jersey dresses the requisite club 'uniform'. I really wish I was around to see the glitz and glamour surrounding the (in)famous nightclub in 1977. If those walls could talk................

Here some pieces that scream Studio 54 in all its (short lived) glory:

{Diane Von Furstenberg, Net-a-Porter}

{Halston, Net-a-Porter}

{CC Skye, Couture Candy}

White Hot

With the coming and going of Memorial Day weekend we are officially in the season of 'whites'. An old, old, old rule that is meant to be broken by fashion mavens everywhere. But, in the spirit of summer, there really is something to be said about the color that is always crisp, always clean, and always chic.

White flowy dresses and airy blouses add romance to just about any look. The key to avoid the whitewashed look? Just add a bold accessory or heavy metal jewelry to toughen up even the most ethereal ensemble.

And come fall, Style.com is predicting that this white hot look will continue on into the autumn months, even giving the trusted LBD a run for its money.

Some of my favorite whites for the summer (and beyond):

Diane Von Furstenberg Fantasia Blouse, $285
Marc by Marc Jacobs Devore Cotton Dress, $450
Jen's Pirate Booty Senorita Dress, $110

Trendsetter - Summer Boots

Just the other day I attempted my first bare legs with boots combination (after the longest winter I can remember) and something felt a little off. Don’t get me wrong – I love the look and think it is a definite DO, it just takes some getting used to after months and months of tights. Flat ankle boots, cowboy boots, anything by Frye, etc, etc. Pair them with a flirty summer dress, denim cutoffs, boyfriend jeans, the possibilities are endless!

These Carson Pull-On Boots by Frye are my choice for the summer months. Something about this baby blue really lightens up the look for the high temperatures and the slightly stacked heel makes getting around a breeze. I want them now!
