Sorority Row

Enjoy these words of fashion wisdom from the rush chair of a certain Cornell sorority. You will not be disappointed. All from Fashionista. Click the link if you want to read all SIX pages of rules. (Trust me, you do)

On Clothes

— Denim leggings are appropriate as long as it’s done right: aka, not from American Apparel and worn with chic, cool, chunky boots over them and a longer top.

— No satin dresses. No one looks good in satin dresses unless it’s from Betsey Johnson or Dolce & Gabbana, you weigh less than 130 pounds, have three pairs of Spanx on and it’s New Years Eve.

— No Frumpy.

On Shoes

— Yes to nice flats: Tory Burch, etc. More evening-ish, understated, patent leather good. I’m thinking mid-height Mary Jane heels, or mid-height chunky Kate Spade.

— Booties ok if you can pull them off, aka probably not.

On Jewelry

— I expect everyone to be wearing accessories. This is an important part of every outfit and can make or break any ensemble.

— Bangles need to coordinate. I’m not saying you have to wear a Harry Winston wreath, but I am saying I won’t tolerate any gross plastic shizzzz. I love things on wrists and I demand earrings if your ears are pierced.

A lovely Dolce & Gabbana Satin Dress (The model is definitely under 130lbs, don't worry)

Current Obsession: Anoraks

Not a trench coat. Not a parka. So not a rain coat.

I have one in black, but it's seen better days. Now I'm looking for a lighter, neutral color.

My options thus far:

Juicy Couture Tony Military Hooded Coat, $298

Laundry by Shelli Segal Urban Anorak, $68.90

The Juicy Couture one is my fave, but it's $298 price tag is not....I'm going to continue the hunt. Suggestions welcome!

H&M Goes Green for Spring

Lately, I have been kind of over H&M. Zara has really been bringing the heat, while H&M has been pretty lukewarm. That is, until now. They have an eco-friendly line coming to stores this spring that is equal parts sweet and sexxxy.

See for yourself.

Best Dressed - Globes Style

I was hugely disappointed with the red carpet this year. Better bring your A game to the Oscar's, ladies.

That being said, here's who I loved, er, didn't hate.

Sandy Bullock in Bottega Veneta

Olivia Wilde in Gucci (and my personal fave. can you say hot?)

Diane Kruger in Christian Lacroix Haute Couture

So much goodness to come in 2010.

Happy to be back - much love to you all. And listen to the wise words of Roberto.

So.....

I am going to have to announce my hiatus until the beginning of November. I am frantically packing up the contents of my life as I get ready to make the move from the east coast to the best (west) coast. I am also taking a month long 'sabbatical' abroad, and time has really gotten away from me. I had grand ideas of having my blog posts done in advance......Yeah, that sure didn't happen. Once I return I will be better than ever. That's a promise.

And please don't forget about me!!

XOXOXO

Faux Fur Friday

So, I have mentioned my love for Rachel over and over. I am not so sure I have shown the same love for faux fur. I am obsessed. I think I could like real fur, but I am an animal lover, so that just doesn't fly. Check out Rachel's faux fur vest for QVC, for a steal at $79.90. I.Die.

The REAL September Issue

Grace Coddington is the Creative Director at Vogue. The real brains behind the Vogue name. Anna Wintour may be at the top of the masthead food chain, but Grace makes most of the fashion mag's ideas into a reality. She is basically a genius. I heart her. I finally saw The September Issue, if you can't tell. Here is my lady after being discovered in a Vogue modeling contest many moons ago.

Apologies

Vacation, transitions, moving from one coast to another, planning a month long European getaway. All reasons I have slacked on my blog. Trying to get it back together again. Thank you for your patience.

White Now

A) It is Labor Day already, B) It is September 3rd, C) It is Labor Day already. I know I have blogged about what to wear with Fall fast approaching, but somehow I thought I had some time on my hands before the 3 day weekend hit me in the face.

I have mentioned here that white (imho) is not only okay post labor day, but wearing of the non color should be encouraged. Who made that rule anyway? We all know rules were made to be broken.....

Some fabulous white to wear well after the leaves change and the temperature drops.

Splurge vs. Save

I know it is hard to spend money on shades. They are easily lost, smashed, stepped on, swept up in a tornado, etc. And when something is that fragile, you don't want to spend serious cash. Personally, I am willing to spend upwards of $200 (okay $300) to have a piece of the designer pie. But, when places like Forever 21 make their own version of the iconic wayfarer, what is better? A splurge? Or to save??

1. Ray Ban Classic Wayfarer, $189
2. Forever 21 Sunglasses, $5.80

Beauty Obsessions

Best. Shampoo. Ever. No, seriously. My hair was in need of rescue - and this really provided it. I have been on a quest to get moisture and shine back into my life and I gave this a try. It is a tad pricey, but well worth it. I am one happy camper!

I am a beauty junkie - and I love to hear about any/every new product. Any other new products worth knowing about?
